QR CODE MONUMENT

2026

This project started with a simple question: Can you produce a fully functional QR code, 3 x 3 meters wide, consisting entirely of used tools and materials, representing the most relevant crafts in Germany? We did some research, built a model, ran some tests and figured we can.

The follow up-question was, can that installation somehow be moved from city to city without requiring a whole team to set it up? We went from a foldable idea to a truck, but then figured the easiest way is to use a low floor trailer and build on top of it. And that’s what we did.

The QR Code Monument was commissioned by IKK health insurance, traditionally focussing on insurance for crafts and skilled trades in Germany. They use it for events throughout the country to speak to their core audience. The first show case took place in front of the BVB Stadium in Dortmund.
